STILL: IRM’s 18th Anniversary Celebration

March 15, 2010

Last March 13, 2010 (Saturday), IRM celebrated its 18th Anniversary Celebration from eight in the morning until about one in the afternoon at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. The first part of the celebration started with an audio-visual presentation showing major events that happened in the Philippines for the past year, including such unsettling occurences like Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, as well as the Maguindanao massacre. The AVP ended with a reminder for us to be STILL before the Lord.

After the AVP, the IRM Performing Arts Ministry (PAM) led the congregation in singing the National Anthem, which was followed by “Kabanal-Banalan” to signal the processional of the IRM Council of Elders and District Administrators. Rev. Reynaldo Salazar led the congregation in the opening prayer, which was followed by the praise and worship segment led by Ptr. Jayson Igloria and the Performing Arts Ministry (PAM).

Bro. Zosimo Cruz, one of the lay members of the Council of Elders, read Psalm 46:1-10 to the congregation. Verse 10 is the basis for this year’s theme – “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” The Bible reading was followed by a special number from the choir of Minuyan IRM Church.

Bishop Reynaldo Domingo delivered his message entitled “Be Still and Know that I Am God,” where he talked about the historical events in the Bible when these words were used. He reminded the congregation that the same promise is applicable to Christians today, and encouraged everyone to be still before the Lord.

The message was followed by a dance number (“Still” by Hillsongs) and a song number (“Si Hesus”) by IRM Marikina. The offering was collected afterwards, with Bro. Efren Gungon leading the group in prayer. This was followed by the doxology and benediction by Bishop Rey, and a stirring rendition of “Hallelujah Chorus” by the IRM Marikina Senior Choir. This ended the first part of the celebration.

The second part started with greetings, and Awards and Recognition led by Rev. Florendo Santos. This was followed by the first batch of announcement on the church assignments by Bishop Rey. After a brief interval, where Lungsod Silangan IRM performed a special number, Bishop Rey proceeded with the second batch of announcement of church assignments. Once this was finished, all the workers stood up for their oath taking, followed by a congregational singing of “Be Still My Soul.” Before the celebration ended, Deac. Mila Cortez, head of the Anniversary Committee, thanked everyone involved for their help in making the anniversary a success. IRM PAM led the congregation in singing “Your Grace Is Enough” to end the anniversary celebration.

Rev. Benjamin dela Cruz

February 1, 2010

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”  John 14:1-2

Rev. Benjamin dela Cruz has been promoted to glory and has found rest with the Lord last 29 January 2010. Although we know that he is now residing in one of the rooms that the Lord has prepared for him, let us pray that the Lord will comfort his family during their time of grief.
