Divine Appointments Lead to Mission Efforts in Rizal
December 6, 2010
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Romans 10:14
With God, there is truly no such thing as an accident.
Sometime last year, Bishop Reynaldo Domingo and his driver, Bro. Jerry, were on their way home from Bicol when their vehicle broke down, leaving them stranded in a poor area in Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal. A kind old woman invited them to come inside their family’s shanty but Bishop Rey begged off, not wanting to inconvenience her.
After some time, it started to rain hard, and the old woman once again invited Bishop Rey and Bro. Jerry to come inside since they were now unable to stay inside the vehicle. This time, they gratefully accepted the offer, and were even asked by three middle-aged men to join in on their drinking session. Bishop Rey thanked them and tactfully refused, saying that he was a pastor. He also mentioned that in case there were sick people in the area, he was willing to pray for them since the Lord has graciously given him the gift of healing.
Upon hearing this, a mother brought over her sick infant, who was instantly healed by the Lord after Bishop Rey’s prayer. In a short span of time, a queue began to form composed of sick people asking for prayers. Around 40 people were healed miraculously by the Lord that night.
Bishop Rey had to stay at the shanty for the rest of the night since the mechanic could only come in the morning. What would seem to be an accident was in fact a divine appointment, as this became the beginning of mission efforts in Pililla.
Feeling a deep burden to bring the people to God and to help alleviate poverty in this place, Bishop Rey returned several times, bringing groceries and other forms of help, and praying over the sick. The members of IRM Cainta supported him and would sometimes join him when he visited the area.
Another mission point was also launched in Sipsipin, Jala-jala, Rizal, which is 7 to 10 kilometers away from Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal. It all began when Bishop Rey and Ptra. Lualhati visited IRM Macau a few years ago, where he also had a healing ministry. He learned that the son of one of the members of IRM Macau was sick, but the doctors could not ascertain his illness. The mother asked Bishop Rey to visit her son who lives in Sipsipin, Jala-Jala, Rizal (about 56 kilometers away from Bishop Rey’s house in Cainta, Rizal) once he returns to the Philippines.
Bishop Rey obliged and visited the son soon after to pray for his healing. The Lord answered his prayer and the son was miraculously healed. Afterwards, Bishop Rey shared the Gospel to the people there, and around eight people accepted the Lord.
Bishop Rey returned to IRM Macau a few months ago, where he found out from the mother that the son has been well for years, but the eldest daughter was demon-possessed. Upon his return to the Philippines, Bishop Rey went to visit the daughter along with Rev. Ruben Rubio of IRM Cainta and Rev. Edwin Manganti of IRM Baguio. They prayed for her healing, which the Lord graciously answered, and shared the Gospel to the people around. Several people accepted the Lord on that day.
Afterwards, Bishop Rey asked Rev. Rubio if he was willing to take over the mission efforts in Sipsipin as well as in Halayhayin, to which he readily agreed. When he presented this to the board of IRM Cainta, they also unanimously agreed to adopt these places as mission points for the church and began to organize mission efforts every Saturday.
Members of IRM Cainta, from children to senior citizens, would leave early every Saturday morning to visit Halayhayin and Sipsipin, bringing bread and juice. Some would be assigned to teach the children, who do not even have seats while they are listening to Bible stories and would merely sit on the ground. Some would lead Bible study groups for men, women and youths. Some would knock on doors of every house to share the Gospel to the people inside.
Here is a short video to show us how the mission efforts are paying off.
It is our dream to eventually build an IRM church in this area, but we need your financial support. If you would like to help the mission efforts and livelihood assistance in Halayhayin, Pililia, Rizal and Sipsipin, Jala-jala, Rizal, please send an email to bishopreydomingo(at)yahoo.com.
